Juneau Projects are artists Philip Duckworth and Ben Sadler. They were invited to make a new artwork inspired by the Museum’s natural history collection. The artists focused on the collection of mounted bird specimens. They collaborated with scientists to look at the collection and local bird populations.
Juneau Projects also ran online workshops with people from the local area. The resulting artworks were combined to create a collaborative book and a sculpture for the Museum.

The exhibition is in the Victorian Parlour and the Ironstone Cottage courtyard. It features the sculpture created by Juneau Projects with members of the public. Peek through the Parlour window to see some of the bird collection that inspired the pieces. A film about the project is also on show. Buy a copy of the book on site in the Gift Shop, or online in the Shop.
The film about the project can also be viewed here:
The project was commissioned by arts organisation Invisible Dust, as part of the ‘Surroundings’ project, in collaboration with Humber Museums Partnership. It is funded by Arts Council England through Ambitions for Excellence and Wellcome Trust Sustaining Excellence.
